About us

Established in the year 2000, Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit Indigenous community organisation incorporated under the Australian Government’s Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976, which is now governed by the new Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island) Act 2006 (CATSI). The organisation currently employs a professional team of nine Indigenous and five non-Indigenous people, all of whom represent the Chairperson, Governing Committee and the group’s Indigenous members.

Our vision:

To enable Ngarda to sustain a cultural life in contemporary society

Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation professionally collects, records, documents and broadcasts the language, culture, history and the contemporary lives of the local Indigenous people. We have produced four books, the latest one, Ngurra Warndurala Buluyugayi: Exploring Yindjibarndi Country, details fifty significant Indigenous sites around the Millstream National Park.

Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation works closely with local Elders to reconstruct, reinvigorate and maintain Indigenous knowledge systems. We have at least 6000 photos in our digital archive which we hold for the community, we conduct many field trips into country, produce books, educational productions, as well as heaps of activities, all of which are driven and run by the local Indigenous community.

Juluwarlu’s organisational objective

To provide a sustainable, professional, institutional structure, which reinforces, engages and allows access to, Ngarda heritage, history and language, effectively empowering Aboriginal people in our cultural, artistic, social, economic, political and environmental pursuits.
