Murru Warru Mya
The Juluwarlu Media Centre
In memory of
Murru Warru John Peter Pat
1966 – 1983
Juluwarlu Group Aboriginal Corporation dedicates the Juluwarlu Media Centre to the memory of John Peter Pat of Roebourne, who died in police custody on the 28th of September 1983, which started the Royal Commission into the Aboriginal Deaths in Custody.
With the Pat family's approval and support, the centre will be named the Murru Warru Media Centre.
Murru Warru was born on the 31 October 1966 in Roebourne District Hospital to Mavis Pat and Len Wally. He was the eldest of three children.
From the tragedy that happened on that fateful night, the Murru Warru Centre will do everything in its power to build and deliver positive messages of hope for all.
Despite past events we must triumph and raise from our own fears of empowerment and become strong, continue to stand and face our fears, in remembrance of those who have fallen. In the name of Murru Warru John Peter Pat.
