Michael Woodley

Michael Woodley on Heritage Survey, 2006

In 2006, Juluwarlu Operations Manager Michael Woodley was chosen as one of Western Australia's Top 40 business leaders under 40 years of age. Michael was selected from a field of 185 nominees from such diverse areas as youth services, information technology, tourism and finance. The award ceremony was held in Fremantle in April. The panel of 17 judges selected Michael on the basis of his achievements in working for the Roebourne Community. They took into account his success in establishing Juluwarlu as a focal point for collecting, preserving and maintaining Yindjibarndi culture; his involvement in establishing the community television station NTV34, which offers media training to local people; and initiating Woodside Engery's education and scholarship program where children from Roebourne receive funding to attend school in Perth.
